Swedish electronic outfit Little Dragon played to a packed room at the San Diego House of Blues, where the line to enter the venue wrapped around nearly a full city block. Lead singer Yukimi Nagano teased the audience from off-stage, with a simple “Hello, San Diego,” sending fans into a screaming frenzy.
“Welcome to our Little Dragon universe.”
For a change of pace with some groove, the band followed up with another new track, “Disco Dangerous.” A sultry song that indeed takes listeners on a dangerous disco — discovering bubbling feelings of excitement and infatuation while denouncing falling in love, all to a danceable beat.
Welcoming the fans into their universe with the track “Amöban” off their newest album, Slugs of Love, Yukimi hypnotized the room with the artful movements and flare she is known for.
Taking a U-turn back in time, the band followed up with an older track, “Pretty Girls.” Playing to an audience of Californians, the story-of-a-California-girl song moved and swayed the crowd as if controlled by the band. A well-deserved full house, there is no doubt Little Dragon injected some much-needed fun and music into the San Diego scene that night.
