11/18/23 @ The Observatory - BY KSENIYA US
On this cool Saturday night, San Diego’s Observatory was filled with tye-dye, dreads, and all the groovy vibes one could fit into a venue. After the opening band primed the fans with their funky tunes, fans were eager to see Pigeons Playing Ping Pong on stage.
As the band gathered on stage, leader singer Greg Ormont was happy to take a moment to converse with the fans. “I don’t know about you but I’m very excited about this penultimate show,” said Ormont as the band started playing “Sail On.”
The song was impossible not to move to. Whether dancing or jumping around, the band’s energy was easily visible through their music and movement. An infectious happiness emanated from bassist Ben Carrey as he put on the moves that could steal the whole show. The song led into a jam that felt like a rollercoaster ride of dancing and fun.
Hardly taking a break, the set continued with “Move Like That,” another track that begs the audience to dance. Good vibes and smiles were abound for the night, and they would certainly be needed. These jam heroes played a dual-set show that kept the room bouncing well into the night.
